Staging the World by TV

Television is our culture’s principal mode of knowing about itself. Therefore—and this is the critical point—how television stages the world becomes the model for how the world is properly to be staged—Neil Postman, Amusing Ourselves to Death (1985).

  1. I am about 3/4 of the way through reading this book for the first time.

I've become convinced that Neil Postman is a modern-day prophet.

  2. He was.

We should not get our ideas about anything primarily from TV. I haven't watched it for years, but I doubt it ever gives a realistic portrayal of chronic illness.
