A place to find hope and share pain in the struggles of chronic illness within the framework of Christian existence. I welcome the sufferers and those who try help them ("the strong ones"). Both suffer horribly from the ravages of chronic illness such as fibromyagia, chronic fatigue, lupus, and more. Perhaps we can minister to one another.

Groothuis on Chronic Illness and Redemptive Suffering
On Wedenessay, May 27, I will be speaking in a class at Denver Seminary called Redemptive Suffering. I will address chronic illness and redemptive suffering. This is not a one-off public lecture, but part of a for-credit course, so the public is not invited. However, if you would like my lecture outline (which is substantial), please let me know. This will be the first time I have given a lecture dedicated to this issue.

I would like a copy. Will you email it?
ReplyDeleteI need your email.
ReplyDeleteI have read the outline, tasty morsels indeed. One certainly can tell you ar intimately acquainted with the subject.
ReplyDeleteI will be in prayer for you. I just wish I could listen in. Perhaps someday you may be able to write a book on lamenting, which is so badly needed today.
Might you have a more extended bibliography on the subject?
I don't have many more books to recommend on this.

Please email your lecture outline on Redemptive Suffering to dmuellerz@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteThanks
I am a pastor who has a chronically ill mother and 3 church members with chronic illness. I am very interested in what you had to say and eager to use it to minister to those around me. Could you please email me lectures and/or mp3s? I am sure that I would pass this on to others as well. Thank you. pastorjoshwagner@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteHi Doug,
ReplyDeleteIf you are still willing to forward your lecture outline regarding Redemptive Suffering, I would be interested in reading it. Those terms can feel oxymoronic at times, so it would be a help to read a perspective that has been gained the hard way.
